This porridge is good for baby

Sweet Potato:
They are high in Vitamin A and beta carotene as well as potassium. They also contain a good amount of Vitamin E, calcium and folate.

Broccoli is very high in Vitamin C and is a great source of soluble fiber. This makes broccoli wonderful to add to baby food recipes. Soluble fiber is the fiber that helps loosen up the bowels as it changes its form as it passes through the digestive tract.

Tomatoes is rich of Vitamin C.

Potato Food Cubes

Potatoes need to freezes well because it may be gritty/watery when thawed.

  1. Peel and clean the potatoes.
  2. Cut it into small cubes.
  3. Steam with a little bit water for 20 mins or until it's turn soft.
  4. Mash/blend for puree.
  5. Spoon or pour puree into regular ice cube trays and then cover it.

Baby food cubes are safe to remain in the freezer from 3 to 6 months. Using baby food cubes within 1 month to 3 months is really more prudent.

Baby Foods D.I.Y

Food needs to be cooked sufficiently (until it's soft enough) so that it can be easily pureed or blend.

If food is dry after pureeing add one of the following:

  • a little liquid from the vegetable
  • breast milk
  • formula milk
  • boiled water
  • or fruit juice

Don’t add salt or sugar to any baby food ( you can add a little bit after baby 6 months)

Prepare vegetables by peeling and cutting into small pieces. Cook in as little water as possible, steaming is best. Then put into the food processor or blender.( I usually steam)

To prepare fruits for cooking, peel and chop into small pieces then steam and put through a food processor or blender.

Meat can be introduced in the form of saltless gravy, or juices added to baby’s vegetables and pureed together.

Cut meat into small pieces and place in a little boiling water. Simmer until cooked, then puree.

Freeze what you don’t use in meal-size portions. Ice cream trays work well for freezing. Once frozen, put frozen lumps into a freezer bag.( i am using freezer container)

Freezing Baby Food

Baby food cubes can keep in frozen for maximum of 3 month.
In the refrigerator, it is recommended that fresh pureed homemade baby food be stored no longer than 48 hours. This limit ensures that bacteria growth in the puree is kept to a minimum and that the food does not take on the "taste of the fridge". This "rule" applies for veggies, fruits, meats etc.
